I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you well. Students who forsake their personal time to make a more serious study of demanding subjects are to be encouraged. The efforts you have made this year to master this material should always be a source of pride to you and as you go forward let this experience be a guide to firstly the scope of your dreams and secondly the effort you make to accomplish them.

1.
Technology
a. You are not permitted the use, for any reason, of any technology which can send any type of message via any means during the entire examination including washroom breaks and such like. Anyone caught doing so will be dismissed immediately and have their grade cancelled. This includes but is not limited to (cell phones, pay phones, residential phones, mp3, PDA’s, any computer and/or anything else that fits in this category that has not yet been invented). The only exception is a computer, which has been arranged for the performance of a given examination. In this case, you are only permitted to use the software described by the proctor and in the manner suggested by same. Entrance to any other software without the express permission of the proctor will result in your immediate dismissal and cancelation of your grade.
b. You must conform to the rules of the exam as stated by the proctor regarding aids such as acceptable calculator types and access times and such like. Review the restrictions that are relevant to your exam on the College Board website.
c. You are not permitted to share any materials for any reason. If you are concerned about calculator failure etc., then bring more than one.
d. If you are writing a language exam or a music exam any tapes or CD’s that are required for your work will be provided. There is no requirement for you to bring anything to the exam except yourself, reasonable writing materials and if required a calculator of the specified type. If you are unsure of the requirements for your specific exam then please peruse the College Board website and if this is found wanting then ask me at our mutual convenience.
2. General
Principles
a. Please BE ON TIME. We need you in the exam area THIRTY (30) Minutes prior to your exam’s starting time. There is paperwork that needs to be completed prior to the exam. Arriving right at exam time simply delays everyone and is quite rude to all involved. I should expect anyone able to write an AP exam successfully should be able to determine the date and time and be able to read a wristwatch.
b. RESPECT the proctor(s). These people have a lot of responsibility and I expect them to be respected for their role that day. When they speak YOU listen.
c. You are reminded of your obligation that the questions on the exam are not to be discussed with anyone after the exam. Failure to follow this rule will result in cancellation of your grades.
d. I value the opportunity to offer these exams at MGCI. Therefore I aim to provide the best exam writing opportunity possible for you here. I will not tolerate any nonsense on these days. Remember folks you are writing to possibly earn a university credit in a particular subject. This is a serious business.
e. Pre-Administration Session to reduce time spent on administrative matters at the beginning of the exams, I will hold a pre-administration session in late April after school. All students writing these exams need to attend this session. The date and time for this session will be posted on my webpage.
f. Photo Identification Required please bring an acceptable photo ID to the exam and place it on your desk for the duration of the exam and permit the proctor to inspect at their convenience
3. Reneging
a. To be clear, I expect EVERYONE who has paid and pledged to write to do so. This writing should be of the highest calibre and I expect exam performance to reflect the expected thorough preparation for these examinations. I and a number of others have given a great deal of their time to support your writing while bearing other significant responsibilities. You, therefore are expected to fulfil your end of the bargain
b. When you signed up to write an AP examination, you knew that you would have school work and other commitments. It was my expectation that you would shut down your social life and take your obligation seriously.
c. If
a significant percentage of you do not show this year after 2007’s debacle, I
may reconsider offering this privilege at our school. Simply put it is up to
you….
d. If you break the seal on an examination, you own it and no refund will be permitted.
e. NEW.
This year school administration has decided that NO REFUNDS will be issued to
students who do not show up for their examinations
4. Students
from other schools
a. Please report to the main office when you arrive to obtain Visitor’s Credentials. You may then proceed to the designated exam writing area given on this page.
b. You will be asked to consider yourselves home-schooled if you did not receive structured instruction from your normal high school.
